AC Milan Sack Allegri and Overhaul Sporting Department After Champions League Miss

AC Milan have dismissed head coach Massimiliano Allegri and announced a sweeping restructure of their sporting department after finishing fifth in Serie A and missing out on Champions League qualification.

The club confirmed that chief executive officer Giorgio Furlani, sporting director Igli Tare, and technical director Geoffrey Moncada have also departed with immediate effect, making this one of the most comprehensive leadership overhauls in the club's recent history.

A collapse that proved costly

Allegri had returned to the San Siro dugout in May 2025, taking over from Sergio Conceição for a second spell in charge. For much of the 2025-26 campaign, Milan sat comfortably in the top two of Serie A, at one stage threatening to challenge for the Scudetto.

However, a dramatic late-season collapse culminated in a 2-1 defeat to Cagliari on the final day — a result that dropped Milan to fifth and ended their hopes of returning to the UEFA Champions League.

Club calls it an "unequivocal failure"

In a strongly worded statement, Milan's ownership left no room for ambiguity in their assessment of the season.
