Alisson Returns to Liverpool Training Ahead of Brentford Season Finale

Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson has rejoined his teammates in training ahead of Sunday's final Premier League match against Brentford, raising hopes of a comeback after more than two months out with a hamstring injury.
The Brazilian has been absent since Liverpool's UEFA Champions League win over Galatasaray in mid-March, with Giorgi Mamardashvili stepping in to cover during that period. Manager Arne Slot confirmed the news on Friday morning.
"Ali will train with us today, so that's positive," Slot said.
Slot had previously suggested on multiple occasions in early May that Alisson was close to returning to training, though the goalkeeper's comeback took slightly longer than initially anticipated.
What's at stake for Liverpool
Liverpool need just a point against Brentford at home on Sunday to secure a top-five finish and guarantee their place in next season's UEFA Champions League. They could also clinch fourth position outright if Aston Villa lose to Manchester City on the same day.
Bournemouth remain a distant threat to Liverpool's standing, though their goal difference makes it extremely unlikely they could leapfrog the Reds over the final round of fixtures.
World Cup considerations
With the summer World Cup approaching, Alisson faces a careful balancing act between demonstrating his fitness and avoiding any setback that could jeopardise his international preparations. Despite missing two months of club football through injury, he has been named in Carlo Ancelotti's Brazil squad and is expected to serve as first-choice goalkeeper.
Alisson is not the only returning player with a World Cup on his mind. Alexander Isak has also returned to training following his absence from Liverpool's 4-1 defeat to Aston Villa last week. The Swedish striker is part of Graham Potter's Sweden squad, alongside Arsenal forward Viktor Gyokeres.
