Antonio Conte has confirmed he will leave Napoli at the end of the season, bringing a two-year stint to a close that included delivering the club's fourth Serie A title in their history.

The Italian manager made the announcement following Napoli's final match of the campaign — a 1-0 victory over Udinese on Sunday — speaking at a joint press conference alongside club president Aurelio de Laurentiis.

"It's been an honour, really special to coach Napoli. It's been two great seasons, an exceptional experience," Conte told Italian media. "It was my decision, I told the chairman a few weeks ago. Napoli will always be home."

Conte arrived at the club in 2024 and, in his debut season, guided Napoli to the Serie A championship. This season, however, the club slipped to second place, finishing 11 points behind champions Inter Milan. In the Champions League, Napoli failed to progress beyond the group phase — a competition that has consistently proved a stumbling block for Conte throughout his managerial career.

De Bruyne and Hojlund signings could not sustain momentum

Despite the arrival of high-profile recruits including Kevin de Bruyne and Rasmus Hojlund, injuries and inconsistency undermined Napoli's title defence across the campaign.

Conte had appeared close to leaving the club last summer, before talks with De Laurentiis persuaded him to remain for a second season. This time, the departure appears final.

When pressed on whether he might take charge of the Italian national team, Conte offered a pointed deflection: "My advice would be to hire Pep Guardiola."

The former Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur manager now leaves Napoli with his reputation largely intact, having delivered silverware in his first season before a more turbulent second campaign.
