Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has called on his players to approach Saturday's UEFA Champions League final against PSG with clarity, courage, and an unrelenting desire to win — warning that earning a place in the final is not enough.

Speaking ahead of the showpiece event, Arteta stressed that while Arsenal had proved their worth through the competition to reach this stage, the real work remains to be done on the pitch.

"We're focused, positive. We are here because we have the right to be here. Tomorrow on the field, we're going to have to earn the right to lift the trophy. We have the opportunity to write a new chapter, we have to play with a lot of clarity and desire to win. Winning the Champions League would be something new for all of us. It's tough to write new history at Arsenal, and that's what we're aiming for,"

Arteta acknowledged the weight of what winning would mean — for the club and for himself — as Arsenal chase their first-ever European Cup title.

"We have won a title, but we want to win more. There always has to be a platform to earn more. I want the players to be confident we can go and do it. They want more. After you lift the trophy, you want to reproduce that feeling as many times as possible."

Learning from last season's heartbreak

Arsenal were knocked out by PSG at the semi-final stage last season, but Arteta insisted those matches offered encouragement rather than regret. He reviewed the games and came away with a positive assessment, believing his side were close to making that final and were unfortunate not to progress.

"When I watch the games back, I was very pleased with what I saw. We were close, unlucky not to go into that final. Tomorrow we'll play a different game I'm sure," the Spaniard said.
