Barcelona Fear Lamine Yamal Has Torn Hamstring After LaLiga Win Over Celta Vigo

Barcelona are facing an injury crisis that could derail both their LaLiga title push and Spain's World Cup preparations after Lamine Yamal was forced off immediately following his penalty goal against Celta Vigo on Wednesday.
Club sources told ESPN that initial indications point to a torn hamstring, though the full extent of the injury — and how long the 18-year-old will be sidelined — will only be determined after scans on Thursday, once the swelling has subsided.
What happened on the pitch
Yamal won and converted a spot kick to put Barcelona ahead in the 40th minute, but there was no celebration. He dropped straight to the ground and called for the medical staff, with replays clearly showing him clutching his hamstring after the penalty went in.
After receiving treatment on the pitch for several minutes, Yamal was able to walk off under his own power, though he could not continue. Roony Bardghji came on to replace him just before halftime. Barcelona also lost João Cancelo in the 24th minute to an apparent muscle injury in his right leg.
Flick and teammates cautiously hopeful
Barcelona coach Hansi Flick urged patience when asked about the injury after the final whistle.
