Middlesbrough supporters are preparing for a Wembley final after Southampton were expelled from the Championship play-offs, handing Boro a shot at Premier League football against Hull City this weekend.

The EFL found Southampton guilty of a serious breach of rules — watching training sessions involving Oxford United and Ipswich Town, and filming Middlesbrough as they prepared for the first leg of their play-off semi-final on 7 May. Southampton, who had beaten Boro in that semi-final, are appealing the decision.

Despite the appeal, Middlesbrough fans and local officials have welcomed the ruling. Labour MP Andy McDonald called on Southampton to drop their challenge immediately.
