Luke Shaw ends a long wait

Few players heading into the squad announcement have a more complicated story than Luke Shaw. The Manchester United left-back won the last of his 34 caps in the Euro 2024 final against Spain, before injury wiped out almost his entire 2024-25 season — he managed only seven league appearances. Yet Shaw has stayed fit and started every league game for United since returning, capped by a well-taken goal against Nottingham Forest, his first in the Premier League since January 2023.
