Frank Lampard has been named the League Managers Association manager of the year, earning the game's most prestigious individual coaching honour after steering Coventry City back to the Premier League for the first time since the 2000-01 season.

Lampard's Sky Blues dominated the Championship, finishing 11 points clear at the summit to claim the title outright. His side were the division's top scorers with 97 goals across 46 matches and also boasted the best defensive record in the league — a remarkable double achievement.

The Sir Alex Ferguson award

The former England midfielder received the Sir Alex Ferguson award, which is named after the legendary former Manchester United manager and voted for by fellow managers across the football pyramid. The award takes into account not only results but also the resources available to each manager.

England manager Thomas Tuchel presented the accolade and read aloud a letter from Ferguson himself, who praised Lampard's methods.
