Fulham Pass on Chukwueze as AC Milan Winger Faces Uncertain Future

Samuel Chukwueze will return to AC Milan this summer after Fulham decided against activating the €24 million option to sign the Nigeria international on a permanent basis, according to reports from Tuttomercato.

The winger had joined the Cottagers on a season-long loan last summer, with Fulham holding the right to make the move permanent at the end of the campaign. Earlier reports had suggested the Premier League club were prepared to pay the required fee, but they have since elected not to proceed.

Chukwueze contributed 3 goals and 4 assists for Fulham during the 2024/25 season.

A difficult spell at San Siro

The 27-year-old arrived at AC Milan from Villarreal in 2023, but his time in Milan proved largely underwhelming. Across 51 league appearances for the Rossoneri, he managed just 4 goals before heading out on loan to Fulham in search of a fresh start.

His return now raises significant questions about his future at the club, particularly given the sweeping changes underway at San Siro.

Major shake-up at Milan

AC Milan endured a deeply disappointing campaign, finishing fifth in Serie A and missing out on qualification for next season's UEFA Champions League. The fallout from that result triggered a wholesale restructuring, culminating in the departure of the entire front office and manager Massimiliano Allegri.

The club are expected to name a new manager within days, with former Bournemouth boss Andoni Iraola reported as Milan's top candidate for the role.

With two years remaining on his contract and a new coaching regime set to take charge, Chukwueze's place in Milan's plans for next season remains far from guaranteed.
