Injury-Hit Davies Named in Canada's Pre-World Cup Training Camp

Alphonso Davies has been included in Canada's 32-man training camp ahead of the FIFA World Cup 2026, despite lingering injury concerns surrounding the Bayern Munich full-back.
Davies, 25, sustained a hamstring injury during Bayern Munich's UEFA Champions League semi-final second leg against Paris St-Germain on 6 May. The German club indicated at the time that he faced several weeks on the sidelines, and the Canada captain made only 13 Bundesliga appearances across a campaign repeatedly disrupted by fitness problems.
Camp call but no guarantees
Canada Soccer has invited Davies to the training camp in Charlotte, North Carolina this week, ahead of head coach Jesse Marsch naming his final 26-man World Cup squad on Friday. The federation confirmed it is working closely with clubs and medical teams on player availability, but stopped short of confirming whether Davies would attend the camp or join the squad at a later stage.
Marsch struck an upbeat tone ahead of the squad announcement, expressing confidence in the group gathering around him.
