Iraola Departs Bournemouth Having Delivered Europa League Football and a Club Record

Andoni Iraola's three-year reign at Bournemouth concluded on Sunday with a 1-1 draw at Nottingham Forest — a result that proved enough to seal a sixth-place finish in the Premier League and a place in next season's Europa League.
The 43-year-old Spaniard announced in April he would not be extending his contract, with the two parties unable to agree terms despite the club's wish for him to remain. Former RB Leipzig manager Marco Rose has been confirmed as his successor.
Iraola leaves having transformed a club that finished 15th in 2022-23 — a season that was itself considered a relative success after Gary O'Neil replaced Scott Parker following a 9-0 defeat to Liverpool just four games in. Sunday's draw also extended Bournemouth's unbeaten run in the top flight to 18 games, setting a club record of 57 Premier League points and equalling a Premier League record for draws in a single season with 18.

After the final whistle at the City Ground — where the Forest supporters applauded him off the pitch — Iraola spoke of a celebration already under way behind the scenes.
