Jamaica Call Up Manchester United Teenager Dante Plunkett for Unity Cup Final Against Super Eagles

Jamaica head coach Rudolph Speid has handed an maiden call-up to teenage Manchester United defender Dante Plunkett ahead of Saturday's Unity Cup final against Nigeria's Super Eagles.
The 18-year-old left-back is set to link up with the Reggae Boyz squad in time for Friday's training session — his first inclusion in the senior national setup.
From Aston Villa to Old Trafford
Plunkett began his academy career at Aston Villa before earning a move to Manchester United in 2024 after a standout trial period with the club. The left-back went on to make 15 appearances for United's Under-18 side across all competitions during the 2025/26 season.
Reggae Boyz seek revenge
The final takes place at the Valley on Saturday night, with Jamaica determined to avenge back-to-back defeats to Nigeria in this tournament. Last year's final ended 2-2 after 90 minutes before the Super Eagles prevailed 5-4 on penalties to retain the trophy — a prize Nigeria had also claimed in the competition's only two previous editions, in 2002 and 2004.
Speid's side reached the final by defeating India 2-0, while Nigeria booked their place with an equally emphatic 2-0 win over Zimbabwe's Warriors.
The Reggae Boyz will be hoping that fresh talent like Plunkett can tip the balance in their favour as they bid to lift the Unity Cup for the first time.
