Joao Pedro Hails Palmer as 'Magic' After Chelsea Teammate Misses England World Cup Squad

Chelsea striker Joao Pedro has lavished praise on club teammate Cole Palmer, describing him as intelligent and magical — while suggesting the 24-year-old would walk into the Brazil squad with ease.
Palmer was left out of Thomas Tuchel's 26-man England squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup following a difficult season at Stamford Bridge, one blighted by injury and a dip in form that saw rivals overtake him in contention for his position.
A season derailed by injury
A groin problem sidelined Palmer for 15 matches between August and November 2025, with further setbacks involving his toe, thigh, and hamstring compounding his troubles. Despite scoring in the Euro 2024 final, his exclusion from England's squad has become one of the most debated decisions of the announcement.
The number 10 roles in Tuchel's setup are expected to be filled by Jude Bellingham, Eberechi Eze, and Morgan Rogers — all three of whom have enjoyed considerably stronger campaigns than Palmer this term.
Pedro's glowing tribute
Speaking to the club's official website, Pedro was effusive about what he has witnessed from Palmer in training and matches throughout the season.
