Konate to Leave Liverpool as Free Agent After Five Years at Anfield

Ibrahima Konate is set to depart Liverpool at the end of the season without a transfer fee, bringing his five-year association with the club to a close, according to Sky Sports.
The 27-year-old central defender held extended discussions with Liverpool over a new contract but the two parties were unable to reach an agreement. Konate will now be free to join a new club without any compensation required.
European suitors circle
Several clubs across Europe have registered interest in Konate since the start of the year, though the France international has yet to confirm where he will be playing his football next season.
Konate made 183 appearances for Liverpool following his move from RB Leipzig, contributing to a Premier League title, one FA Cup triumph, and two Carabao Cup victories during his time at Anfield.
Defensive reshuffle ahead
Liverpool face a significant defensive transition heading into next season. Jeremy Jacquet, signed from Rennes in a £60 million deal this summer, is the second-most expensive defender in the club's history — though he has missed the final weeks of the campaign with a shoulder injury.
Geovanni Leoni is also working his way back from an ACL injury, adding further uncertainty to Liverpool's defensive options.
Virgil van Dijk remains at the club, and Joe Gomez is still on the books with one year left on his contract — meaning more movement at centre-back cannot be ruled out.
At left-back, Andy Robertson appears to be departing, though Kostas Tsimikas is expected to return from his loan spell and provide cover in that position.
