Liverpool Eye Permanent Move for Struggling Randal Kolo Muani as Tottenham Face Relegation Threat

Liverpool are reportedly preparing to accelerate their pursuit of Randal Kolo Muani, the Paris Saint-Germain forward currently on loan at Tottenham Hotspur, as the French striker weighs up his options amid the very real prospect of Spurs' relegation from the Premier League.

Kolo Muani has endured a difficult debut season in English football, contributing just one goal and one assist across 25 appearances — 17 of which came as starts — in the 2025-26 Premier League campaign. His sole assist arrived in the 1-1 draw at Anfield in March, the only domestic point collected by manager Igor Tudor during his brief spell in charge of Spurs.

A permanent deal on the table

According to a report from Calcio Mercato, Liverpool have entered the race for the 26-year-old's signature. Juventus, who had Kolo Muani on loan during the second half of the 2024-25 season, are also keen — but Liverpool's considerable pull is expected to give them the edge should they formalise their interest.

Crucially, a report from Gazzetta dello Sport indicates that Kolo Muani's camp are no longer open to loan arrangements. Any move to Anfield would therefore need to be a permanent transfer. PSG are understood to hold no objections to a sale, with the forward's market value having dropped sharply since his £80 million arrival from Eintracht Frankfurt in 2023. His contract with the French club runs until 2028.

World Cup ambitions add urgency

Kolo Muani has fresh motivation to end the season in strong form. Hugo Ekitike's recent injury has significantly improved his prospects of making France's squad for the 2026 World Cup, giving the attacker every reason to perform in Spurs' remaining fixtures.

Tottenham face a desperate battle to avoid an historic relegation and return to action on Saturday with a trip to already relegated Wolverhampton Wanderers — a fixture they badly need to win.

Liverpool, by contrast, are well positioned in the top half of the table. Arne Slot's side sit fifth, five points clear of nearest rivals Brighton, and hold a game in hand as they push for Champions League qualification next season.
