Marco Silva to Decide Fulham Future Next Week as Contract Talks Continue

Fulham manager Marco Silva has confirmed he will reach a decision on his future at Craven Cottage next week, with the club having offered him a new three-year contract ahead of their final Premier League fixture of the season.
Silva, 48, is out of contract at the end of June. Fulham are eager to retain the Portuguese, who has led them through four consecutive top-flight campaigns since guiding the club to promotion from the Championship in his first season after taking charge in 2021.
Speaking at his pre-match news conference on Friday, Silva pushed back on suggestions that the uncertainty over his position was a distraction.
"I understand why you call it as an issue, I see it as a situation that we are at the end of a contract, we have been talking to the football club and the football club is talking with us. And I'm going to take a decision, as are the football club, next week."
Silva added that only one offer currently sits on the table. "I just have one offer on the table for me to think about," he said. "I understand my agent is speaking with the club, but I have an offer from a long, long time that we are talking about and that is Fulham Football Club."
Speculation links Silva to Benfica and Chelsea
Silva's name had been circulated in connection with the Chelsea managerial vacancy before Xabi Alonso — the former Liverpool midfielder — was appointed at Stamford Bridge. Portuguese giants Benfica have also been mentioned as potential suitors, as they search for a successor to Jose Mourinho, who is heading to Real Madrid.
Despite those links, Silva's public comments suggest his attention remains firmly on Fulham's season finale. The Cottagers host Newcastle on Sunday in their closing Premier League match of the campaign.
A solid record, but Europe out of reach
Since securing promotion, Silva has steered Fulham to finishes of 10th, 13th, and 11th in the Premier League. They currently sit 13th heading into the Newcastle fixture, with their hopes of European qualification effectively ended by a run of three league matches without a win.
The decision Silva makes next week will shape not only his own career but also Fulham's planning for next season, as the club look to build on the stability he has brought since his arrival.
