Paris Saint-Germain captain Marquinhos has declared that his squad arrive at Saturday's UEFA Champions League final with a clear understanding of what makes Arsenal such a formidable opponent.

Speaking at his pre-match press conference, the Brazil international acknowledged the challenge Arsenal pose — but stressed that PSG have consistently found ways to overcome adversity throughout the season.

"We've played them a few times over the last few years, and we know what their strengths are," Marquinhos said. "We know how difficult it is to face this Arsenal team. We can't know what will happen during the match, and what could be the deciding moment. We need to be ready for anything."

A season of stepping up

Marquinhos reflected on PSG's ability to raise their game against the toughest opposition, pointing to earlier clashes with Liverpool, Chelsea, and Bayern Munich as evidence of the squad's resilience.

"Whatever the opponent this season, there were times where they made it difficult for us," he said. "We managed to step up and adapt to what was needed. In a final, we'll need to be decisive when it comes to the details."

PSG head into the showpiece on the back of a dominant 5-0 victory over Inter Milan in the semi-finals, yet Marquinhos was keen to emphasise that the squad's mindset remains unchanged.

"It's the same feeling, the same motivation," he said. "Even if we've already experienced it, we're human beings. These are important matches, they're difficult moments, there's a lot going on around them."

The skipper confirmed PSG would lean on the mental blueprint that served them in last season's final, prioritising composure over the noise that surrounds a match of this magnitude.

"Last season's approach was to try and manage everything that's going on around the match, everything concerning the pressure," Marquinhos added. "We're not going to change anything. We're going to keep working as we've been doing and keep the motivation that we had last year."
