Scott McTominay has declared that helping Scotland advance beyond the group stage at this summer's World Cup would stand as the crowning achievement of his career. With the tournament 50 days away, the Napoli midfielder spoke alongside club teammate Billy Gilmour about their hopes as Scotland prepare to compete on football's grandest stage for the first time in 28 years.
The pair's reflections feature in Serie A Scots: Return to Naples, a BBC documentary airing on 1 May, offering a glimpse into their lives in Italy.
Group C challenge awaits
Scotland open their campaign on 13 June in Boston against Haiti before facing Morocco and Brazil in Group C. With the competition expanded to 48 nations, the top two from each group progress automatically, along with the eight best third-placed sides — giving Scotland a genuine route through even in a demanding pool.
Gilmour, who was born less than three years before Scotland's last World Cup appearance, acknowledged the weight of the occasion while remaining focused on results.
