Mikel Arteta Named Premier League Manager of the Season After Ending Arsenal's 22-Year Title Wait

Mikel Arteta has claimed the 2025/26 Premier League Manager of the Season award, capping a historic campaign in which he led Arsenal to their first league title in 22 years.
Arsenal confirmed the honour in a statement published on the club's official website on Tuesday, revealing that Arteta collected the trophy at the League Managers Association awards ceremony held at the Grosvenor Hotel — just 48 hours after lifting the Premier League title itself.
A record-breaking season at the Emirates
Arteta steered Arsenal to 27 wins and 7 draws from 38 league matches. The Gunners sat at the summit of the table for all but one week of the campaign after going top in October, a remarkable show of consistency from start to finish.
Arsenal's defensive record was equally impressive. They kept clean sheets in half of their league fixtures, conceding just 27 goals — the best defensive record in the division across the entire season.
The club also reached the UEFA Champions League final for the first time in 20 years, adding further weight to what has been a transformational campaign under Arteta's management.
History for Arteta on multiple fronts
At 44, Arteta becomes the second-youngest manager ever to win the Premier League. He was also named Manager of the Month for March — the eighth time he has claimed that award since taking charge at Arsenal — and received five nominations for the monthly prize this season alone.
Having been nominated for the seasonal award in three of the previous four years, Arteta finally claimed the prize, becoming the first Arsenal manager to do so since Arsène Wenger won it in 2004 following the legendary Invincibles campaign.
The winner was determined by a combination of a public vote and the judgement of a panel of football experts. Arteta finished ahead of Pep Guardiola, Andoni Iraola, Keith Andrews, Michael Carrick, and Regis Le Bris.
