Nigeria's Super Eagles will field an experimental squad tonight as they face Zimbabwe's Warriors in the semi-final of the Unity Cup, with several key players unavailable for the Enfield clash at The Valley.
Absentees reshape the squad
Captain Wilfred Ndidi, Moses Simon, Bruno Onyemaechi, Raphael Onyedika, and Akor Adams all missed the final training session on Monday and will play no part in the game. Their absence hands opportunities to a host of fringe and uncapped players eager to press their claims for a regular spot in the setup.
Goalkeeper Francis Uzoho, Igoh Ogbu, and Tochukwu Nnadi — each part of Nigeria's squad at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations — are expected to start, alongside recalled forwards Terem Moffi and Alhassan Yusuf.
Winger Femi Azeez, who caught the eye at Millwall in the Sky Bet Championship during the 2025/26 season, and Plymouth Argyle forward Owen Oseni are both in contention to earn their first senior caps. The eight home-based players drawn from the Nigeria Premier Football League also stand a strong chance of featuring against Kaitano Tembo's side.
Chelle demands the right attitude
Head coach Éric Chelle acknowledged that the occasion represents a genuine audition for players on the fringes of the senior squad.
