NFF Makes Contact with Newcastle United's William Osula for Super Eagles Switch

The Nigeria Football Federation has reached out to Newcastle United striker William Osula in a bid to convince the 22-year-old to represent the Super Eagles over Denmark, according to reports from Complete Sports Nigeria.

Osula was born in Copenhagen to a Danish mother and a Nigerian-French father, making him eligible to represent Denmark, France, or Nigeria at international level. He has previously appeared for Denmark at youth level but is yet to earn a senior cap, keeping the door open for a switch in allegiance.

The Newcastle forward was called up to the Danish senior squad for their March fixtures against North Macedonia and Czech Republic, but did not feature in either match — a development that appears to have encouraged the NFF to accelerate its pursuit.

Football journalist Farzam Abolhosseini broke the news on X, confirming that Nigeria's football governing body has already made initial contact with the player.

"William Osula has been contacted by the Nigerian Football Federation through his background, who want the bomber from Newcastle to represent the African country instead of Denmark. He was selected for the Danish national team in March, but did not make his debut," Abolhosseini wrote.

Should Osula commit to Nigeria, he would add another attacking option to a Super Eagles squad looking to strengthen its forward line ahead of future international competitions.
