Porto Decline Permanent Move for Terem Moffi After Fee Dispute with Nice

FC Porto have decided against triggering the €8 million purchase option for Super Eagles striker Terem Moffi, opting instead to pursue other attacking targets this summer.

Moffi joined the Portuguese champions on loan from French club OGC Nice in January, going on to make 15 appearances and contributing two goals and one assist as Porto secured the league title.

Fee talks break down

According to Portuguese outlet A Bola, Porto attempted to renegotiate a lower transfer fee with Nice, seeking a reduction on the initially agreed €8 million buy option. Nice refused to budge, holding firm on the original figure — leaving the two clubs at an impasse.

With negotiations stalled, Porto have shifted their focus toward signing two new forwards rather than committing to a permanent deal for the 26-year-old Nigerian.

Difficult season off the pitch

Moffi's move to Porto came in the wake of a troubling episode at Nice. In December, Moffi and fellow Ivory Coast international Jeremie Boga were assaulted by Nice supporters following a defeat to Moffi's former club Lorient. The incident prompted both players to seek exits, with Boga subsequently joining Juventus on loan.

Despite the off-field turmoil, Moffi contributed during his time in Portugal, helping the Dragons claim the league championship before his future was cast into doubt by the breakdown in transfer talks.

It remains to be seen where Moffi will play his football next season, with his immediate future now firmly back in Nice's hands.
