Portugal and Poland Friendlies Will Bring the Best Out of Super Eagles, Says Ex-International

Former Nigerian international Friday Ekpo is confident that the Super Eagles will produce their finest football in the upcoming international friendlies against Portugal and Poland.
Nigeria's head coach Chelle has assembled a strong squad for the two high-profile fixtures, calling up established names including Victor Osimhen, Ademola Lookman, Alex Iwobi, Calvin Bassey, Frank Onyeka, and Paul Onuachu.
"I am excited that the Super Eagles will be playing Portugal and Poland in an international friendly. These high-profile games will bring out the best in some of the invited players," Ekpo told Complete Sports.
The three-time African champions face Poland in Warsaw on June 3 before heading to Leiria to take on Portugal on June 10. Both matches serve as preparations for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations.
Ekpo expressed confidence in the quality of the invited squad, pointing to the calibre of opposition as a catalyst for strong performances.
"We have lots of quality players on both teams, and you can expect nothing but quality performance from Poland and Portugal when they face the Super Eagles. Seeing the list of invited players for the friendlies, I know we will see the best of the Super Eagles," he added.
Unity Cup comes first
Before those European assignments, Nigeria face Zimbabwe in the semi-final of the Unity Cup at Charlton Athletic's The Valley on May 26. The winners will progress to the final, where they meet either Jamaica or India, who contest the other semi-final.
