Enugu Rangers have captured their ninth Nigeria Premier Football League title after defeating Ikorodu City 2-1 at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena in Onikan, Lagos on Sunday.

Fidelis Ilechukwu's side dominated from the first whistle, with Chidiebere Nwobodo opening the scoring in the 30th minute to give the Flying Antelopes an early advantage.

Nwobodo then doubled his tally 10 minutes into the second half, giving Rangers what appeared to be a comfortable cushion heading into the final stages of the match.

Ikorodu City, who came into the game with their own continental ambitions to chase, pulled a goal back through Moses Ali in the 58th minute to set up a nervy finish. Rangers, however, held firm to see out the result and secure the league crown.

The victory confirms Rangers as the dominant force in Nigerian club football this season, adding a ninth top-flight title to their storied history.
