Sevilla Fall to Celta Vigo Despite Adams and Ejuke Introductions

Nigeria internationals Akor Adams and Chidera Ejuke were both introduced from the bench as Sevilla suffered a 1-0 home defeat to Celta Vigo in Saturday's La Liga fixture.
Bench roles for the Super Eagles pair
Adams entered the fray in the 64th minute, replacing Isaac Romero, while Ejuke followed 13 minutes later, coming on for Oso. Despite their introductions, Sevilla struggled to break down a resolute Celta Vigo backline and could not find an equaliser.
The visitors had taken the lead in the 51st minute through Moriba, whose low drive beat the Sevilla goalkeeper. Celta Vigo came close to doubling their advantage in the 68th minute, but Moriba's follow-up volley failed to trouble the keeper. Sevilla's attempts to restore parity proved fruitless, and Celta Vigo walked away with all three points.
Adams's impressive season tally
The defeat does little to diminish Adams's contribution across the campaign. The striker is making his 32nd appearance of the season and has now accumulated 10 goals and 3 assists in La Liga, including crucial efforts against Barcelona and a brace against Elche. He returned to strong form for Sevilla following his involvement at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations and has been credited with helping the club move clear of the relegation zone.
Ejuke, meanwhile, has filled a squad role throughout the season, making 27 appearances — the majority as a substitute — and registering 1 goal and 1 assist. Reports suggest there could be changes to Sevilla's squad during the summer transfer window, with Ejuke's future at the club among the topics under discussion.
