In a wide-ranging interview with BBC Sport, the Tottenham chief executive reflected on a turbulent debut campaign — one he described as requiring nothing less than a complete reset of the club.

A stark reality check

Venkatesham took up his role on 1 June last year, buoyed by the club's Europa League triumph — their first trophy since 2008 — and a squad stocked with experienced internationals. Despite a 17th-place finish under Ange Postecoglou, he believed a push for European places was a realistic target.

That optimism did not last long.
