Udi Urges Chelle to Base Super Eagles Selections on Merit and Form

Former Nigerian international Duke Udi has called on Super Eagles head coach Eric Chelle to select players strictly on merit and current form, arguing that the national team should take lessons from Senegal and England in how they build their squads.
Udi made his remarks in an interview with Brila FM, using Nigeria's upcoming participation in the Unity Cup in London as the backdrop for his message. The tournament, which also features India, Zimbabwe, and Jamaica, holds its semi-finals on May 26 and 27, with the final and third-place match scheduled for May 30.
Learning from Senegal and England
The former international pointed to both the Senegal and England national teams as models for transparent, performance-based selection — a standard he believes Nigeria must adopt.
