West Ham United Relegated from Premier League Despite 3-0 Win Over Leeds

West Ham United have been relegated from the Premier League after 14 seasons in the top flight, despite beating Leeds United 3-0 on the final day of the season at the London Stadium.

The Hammers needed to win and hope Tottenham Hotspur dropped points against Everton — but while West Ham held up their end, Spurs won 1-0, ending any chance of a great escape.

Goals from Castellanos, Bowen, and Wilson not enough

Taty Castellanos opened the scoring in the 67th minute, with Jarrod Bowen adding a second in the 79th. Callum Wilson completed the win deep into stoppage time, netting in the 94th minute. The victory, however, counted for nothing in the broader picture.

Former West Ham manager David Moyes was unable to provide the favour his old club needed, as his Everton side fell to a 1-0 defeat at Spurs.

End of a 14-season top-flight stay

West Ham's relegation brings down the curtain on a remarkable run in England's top division. The club last competed in the Championship under Sam Allardyce during the 2011/12 season.

A dreadful start to the campaign under Graham Potter set a damaging tone. A subsequent resurgence under Nuno Espirito Santo showed signs of promise but came too late to haul the club clear of danger.

The Hammers finished on 39 points — a tally that would have secured safety in each of the previous nine Premier League seasons, where an average of 32.4 points proved sufficient for survival. The cruel arithmetic of this campaign, however, left them down.

Fan frustration boiled over in the second half, with supporters directing songs at joint-owner David Sullivan as the reality of relegation set in.

What comes next for West Ham

West Ham will now prepare for life in the Championship. The Championship fixture list is due to be released on June 25, with the opening weekend of the season scheduled for August 14–25.

The summer transfer window opens on June 15, with Transfer Deadline Day falling on September 1, when the window closes at 11pm UK time.

Meanwhile, attention across the football world turns to the FIFA World Cup 2026, which kicks off on June 11. England open their campaign against Croatia on June 17, with the tournament final set for July 19.
