William Osula's stunning late winner against Manchester United has earned the Newcastle United forward a nomination for the Premier League Goal of the Season award.

The 22-year-old Danish-born Nigerian striker was shortlisted on Monday alongside nine other nominees for the prestigious end-of-season accolade.

The goal that won it

Osula's moment of brilliance arrived deep in stoppage time, with the scoreline locked at 1-1 and Newcastle reduced to 10 men. Receiving a long pass on the right wing, he drove towards goal, produced a couple of step-overs to beat two Manchester United defenders, and curled the ball into the far corner with his left foot to seal a dramatic victory.

The goal had already been recognised at a monthly level — Osula's strike claimed the Premier League Goal of the Month award for March 2026, making him the first Newcastle player to win that honour in the just-concluded season, and the first since Alexander Isak in December 2024.

Osula faces stiff competition from across the division. The full list of nominees includes Dominik Szoboszlai of Liverpool, Martin Zubimendi of Arsenal, Emiliano Buendia of Aston Villa, Tyler Adams of Sunderland, and Harrison Reed of Fulham.

Dominic Solanke of Tottenham Hotspur, Kaoru Mitoma of Brighton, and Valentin Castellanos of West Ham are also in contention for the award.

Osula, who qualifies for Nigeria through his heritage, has been one of the more eye-catching individual stories in the Premier League this season.
