VfL Wolfsburg have been relegated from the Bundesliga following a 2-1 defeat to SC Paderborn 07 in the second leg of their end-of-season promotion-relegation playoff on Monday.

The result confirmed Wolfsburg's drop out of Germany's top division, with SC Paderborn 07 earning the right to compete in the Bundesliga next season at their expense.

Christian Eriksen, who had been among the prominent figures in Wolfsburg's squad, could not prevent his side from suffering the drop despite a battling performance across the two legs.
